I mean, it's kinda dumb. It's too top-heavy, long, and wide for serious off-roading. pretty much just awesome.

But it's totes awesome.

I don't think a Transit will do what that can. RIP E Series.

I agree that it's awesome, but it's not dumb. SAS, diesel, finished interior. It's for overlanding, not simply off-roading. It's a serious machine, just not for the off-roading you're thinking of.

Full-disclosure: overland enthusiast, loves vans

I've got a mid-size pickup, and I'm constantly amazed at the trails I can't take. I have the body damage to prove it. Mostly trees.

Google overlanding or expedition camping....TillTheWheelsFallOff was trying to tell you it' not what you think it's for. That thing is for driving the length of Baja...and taking your sweet time doing it.

I've got plenty of experience with overland/expedition style offroading. It's mostly what my truck was built for. I'm just saying that a few inopportune trees or a rather sharp breakover can be really difficult for a larger vehicle. There are a few passes in colorado, also, where anything longer than a SWB wrangler is going to have a hell of a time making those switchback turns.

I feel like a small truck with a roof tent has plenty of capacity for the majority of overland trips, but I've never gone very far, so I can't say for certain.

Maybe the trails around me (Santa Fe area) are just tighter than normal. Forest Service doesn't take out any more trees than they have to.

I honestly didn't put a whole lot of thought into it. I was just trying to prevent the stance discussion from becoming Stancegate II: Electric Boogaloo.

I don't know. This is an old Transit, but you get the point.

Kinja'd!!!

Also, dual offroad tires.

That is one serious looking machine. I like it, and I wish I had one so that I could go overlanding with it.

I hate those stupid Moto Metals or whatever brand they are with the polished/black/fake beadlock thing. Blegh. other than that...I wants it.

I get a little excited every time I see a full size 4x4 van because they are just so rare. I've seen pics of the vans the research teams use in Antarctica and they are spectacular.

I guess with Mongolia being my goal, I'm less worried about trees...lol.

This is the first instance of that grill/headlight combo that is somewhat proportional and good-looking.

Oh buddy, I'm right there with you. I drive a DCLB Tacoma up here in Colorado. I tried to make a switchback and ran into a tree, haha. The struggle is real. However, wheeling a LWB vehicle has its pros as well. This past weekend I was on a trail that proved to be easier because my truck was longer (steep ascent).

Also, I tell my wife about every one of these I see. The answer is still no.

Admittedly, if all the bros wouldn't have jumped on Rockstars, they aren't a terrible looking wheel. I always really liked the XD Diesels...

It was probably made smaller to accommodate what is on the inside, rather than fulfill someone's taste in exterior looks.

Fake beadlocks have been around for ages. Hell, The old winter wheels for my 335i had fake beadlocks :D

I think those are fake bolts/rivets/fasteners of some sort to simulate being a multipiece wheel. I usually just call them dirt catchers lol.
